Game creation is often considered to be a solitary act. However, the history of video games and computer games demonstrates that the development of video games and computer games has relied on the collaboration of many players. A game is a well-designed, organized form of interactive play, usually undertaken primarily for fun or entertainment, and occasionally used as a teaching tool. Games are quite different from work, which traditionally is carried out only for remuneration; games are an expression of personal or artistic values and can therefore be used to enhance or support personal beliefs. A major component of game design is the creation of stories or campaigns, which are the basic narrative element of computer games and video games in general.
Computer games require some sort of device or software in order to access the various features. In earlier times, players would access programs through floppy disks. Today, players use specialized devices such as USB sticks and memory cards to access many games involving multiple devices. For example, players need a USB stick or a memory card to access applications that require memory cards. Likewise, they need a USB stick or a memory card to access computer programs. All these devices are part of the infrastructure that enables the rapid transfer of information from a player’s computer to another player’s computer or vice versa.

One of the first tokens used to play games like dominoes was sold in retail stores for twenty cents each. The dominoes had a magnetic coating on them so that when they were dropped, the dominoes would not fly off when they hit the ground. The coins themselves had a magnetic strip on the reverse so when they were dropped the coins stuck to the magnetic strip thus making it impossible for the opponent to move their pieces anywhere near the opponent’s pieces. This was the first step in creating a game mechanic and gameplay that could withstand intense competition from players all across the world.
